In collaboration with Reno Guns and Range, REMSA will host a two-part class consisting of “Responding to Violence” and “Bleeding Control” on Sunday, October 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2325 Market Street in Reno, Nevada.
Part one, “Responding to Violence” will include a discussion of simple survival strategies, psychological reactions, mindset, pre-contact indicators and demystifying tools of intimidation. Part two, “Bleeding Control (BCON)” will educate community members on how to perform immediate life-saving interventions prior to receiving medical care. Students will learn how to manage life-threatening blood loss through the use of tourniquet application and wound packing with hemostatic dressing. Students who complete this section will receive a free bleeding control kit, which includes a Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT), emergency bandage, wound packing gauze, dressings and gloves.
