We approach all that we do with innovation and urgency. When an opportunity arose to partner with Plumas District Hospital to provide ground emergency medical services in Plumas County, Care Flight – a service of REMSA Health – was ready. Since 2016, when this important partnership launched, it has expanded into Indian Valley as well and now provides paramedic-level, out-of-hospital healthcare to more than 50 percent of Plumas County geographically and employs nearly 30 full and part time EMTs and paramedics.
The Care Flight Ground operation staffs three ambulances daily, and was the first service within REMSA Health to use the quick response vehicle (QRV) model – a single resource unit that can respond urgently to treat or stabilize a patient until a transport unit or additional resources are available. That, paired with a dedicated on-call ambulance and crew maximizes staffing efficiency and maintains fiscal responsibility. Care Flight Ground is a high-functioning and innovative rural, integrated healthcare system that has been recognized nationally and used as a model because of its performance and quality.
Throughout the partnership, Care Flight Ground has embedded itself in the community by deploying Wildland Fire medical crews, offering continuing education opportunities to partner first response agencies and working with the city of Quincy to be named as the first rural community in California designated as a HEARTSafe Community.
