When to Call the Nurse Health Line
The nurses will ask several initial medical questions when you call. If the nurse identifies that you have a serious medical problem requiring immediate care, you will be directly transferred to the emergency medical dispatchers, then an ambulance and fire department first responders are sent immediately.

- Constipation
- Croup
- Diarrhea
- Eye Pain/Drainage
- Mild Headache
- Muscle Problem
- Rash
- Low Fever
- Sprains/Strains
- Cough, Cold and Flu Symptoms
- Earaches or Ear Pain
- Dental Problems
- Minor Pain
- Falls
- Heartburn
- Nosebleed
- Vomiting
The nurses cannot diagnose problems and are not a substitute for care by a primary care doctor, but they can help patients access the right level of care. For callers who don’t speak English, the nurses can still provide medical information via a language line service.
