Dec. 20, 2024 (RENO, Nev.) – REMSA Health announces the promotion of Todd Kerfoot to director of emergency medical services (EMS) operations. Kerfoot brings 25 years of experience serving the organization to his new role.
Since joining REMSA Health in 1999, Kerfoot has held a variety of leadership positions including senior manager of EMS operations, special operations and safety manager, EMS supervisor and tactical EMS (TEMS) team commander. In his role as director of EMS operations, he is responsible for the efficient delivery of high-quality, out-of-hospital healthcare by all ground operations and special operations employees. He manages and supports the development of the EMS division including EMS managers and EMS supervisors. This role has a particular focus on optimizing the organization’s advanced life support operations within the 9-1-1 system, which includes paramedics and advanced EMTs. Additionally, he leads the organization’s special operations division, including the TEMS program, search and rescue and wildland fire teams.
Kerfoot currently serves on the Regional Rescue Task Force Committee, working with co-response agencies to support efficient response coordination for active, hostile incidents. He previously served on several task forces in collaboration with law enforcement and fire agencies. He has developed TEMS courses to educate tactical medics in providing care for law enforcement, and a medical training course for law enforcement officers.
“Todd is dedicated to supporting employees and advancing the ways we provide out-of-hospital healthcare for the community,” said Adam Heinz, COO, REMSA Health and Care Flight. “His enthusiasm for creating a world-class workplace as well as a top-notch EMS organization are to be commended. We are fortunate to have his energy and vision on our leadership team.”
In 2014, Kerfoot was recognized as the National EMT Public Servant of the Year by the Veterans of Foreign War. REMSA Health presented him with the Meritorious Service Award in 2013 for his role in responding to active shooter incidents that occurred that year. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. He currently serves as a board member for the Trauma Intervention Program of Northern Nevada, a nonprofit that uses citizen volunteers to provide emergency emotional and practical support to the survivors of trauma to ease immediate suffering and facilitate long-term recovery. He previously served as a board member for the International Public Safety Association whose mission is to break down cultural barriers and foster the relationships between EMS, fire, law enforcement, telecommunicators, allied emergency responders and the communities they serve.
