REMSA Health’s Laura Lingeman Honored in Washington, D.C. as a 2023 Star of Life

Nov. 2, 2023 (RENO, Nev.) – REMSA Health announces that Laura Lingeman, emergency medical services (EMS) operations supervisor, will be honored in Washington, D.C. as a 2023 Star of Life by the American Ambulance Association (AAA). Every year, the AAA recognizes extraordinary EMS professionals during the Stars of Life celebration. More than 120 individuals from across the United States will be honored at this year’s event, which will take place Nov. 6-8, 2023.

Since Lingeman joined REMSA Health four years ago as a field paramedic, she has made important contributions to the organization and the healthcare ecosystem of northern Nevada. In her current role as EMS operations supervisor, she provides clinical and operational support for up to 60 paramedics and emergency medical technicians (EMTs). Prior to that, she worked as a community health paramedic in which she was instrumental in developing an organization-wide high EMS user policy focused on key performance indicators and data tracking methods. In addition, she worked to expand the scope of practice to include the delivery of additional medications and the use of new monitoring technology for community paramedic patients. Lingeman has also served on internal committees including the system needs committee which included peer-level retention and recruitment work, as well as transitioning field crews to a 40-hour work week. In 2020, she received a STARCARE award in recognition of outstanding patient care.

Lingeman has worked as an EMT and paramedic field training officer, skills instructor and search and rescue volunteer and technician. She holds multiple EMS-related certifications, and a bachelor’s degree in International Studies with an emphasis in Global Health from the University of Utah.

“Laura is a valued member of the organization,” said Adam Heinz, COO, REMSA Health. “She tackles projects with enthusiasm, seizes opportunities to make improvements and is trusted by leadership, peers and crews alike. There’s no question that out-of-hospital healthcare in our region benefits from Laura’s presence.”

The Stars of Life event pays tribute to the dedication of these EMS professionals while highlighting the critical role they have in our country’s healthcare infrastructure. During their time in our nation’s capital, the Stars will receive medallions and plaques in appreciation for their lifesaving and life-sustaining service. Additionally, the Stars, accompanied by their families and executive leader hosts, will meet with members of Congress and congressional aides to discuss important EMS policy issues.

“EMS professionals work tirelessly to provide round-the-clock healthcare when it is needed most,” said Randy Strozyk, president, American Ambulance Association board of directors. “Together, we honor this year’s Stars of LIfe and thank them for their dedicated service.”
